"I began dancing with Nicky aged 8 years old. A shy and skinny but overly energetic young boy. I was never particularly gifted with the “perfect “dancers’ body or had a particularly long attention span but Nicky saw something in me from a young age and encouraged me to keep coming back, even when I was repeatedly teased for dancing as a child. If it wasn’t for her early encouragement I wouldn’t be where I am today, she pushed me and saw the good in me through the best and worst of times. Nicky gave me the tools, knowledge, passion and understanding of ballet to seek a dream she helped me realise could come true with a lot of work.
Being a professional dancer and travelling the world and performing on amazing stages is the most rewarding and lucky thing you could ever do, it also comes at a price and there have been times where I have wanted to give up all together, every time I’ve had these doubts I have often called Nicky and she always reminded me how far I have come and how much still I have to give. Nicky gave me the tools, foundation, technique and mental resilience to keep going no matter what. Anyone attending Nicky Brice will gain something, not everyone wants to dance professionally, it can be one of the most rewarding hobbies to pursue. Nicky will help boost your confidence and teach you to dance like no one else. She is a very humble lady but her knowledge and experience from her outstanding professional career in one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world speaks volumes in her teaching methods.
Since my time my Nicky I have gone onto train professionally at vocational ballet school and achieve my RAD Advanced 2 Ballet and a degree. I have subsequently gone onto perform in two ballet companies the Cape Town City Ballet in South Africa and the State Opera Varna in Bulgaria. I have performed on various occasions at the Royal Opera House in London and featured inthe Disney Movie “The Nutcracker & the Four Realms” working with Royal Ballet choreographer Liam Scarlett. I have also performed at the Riyadh Cultural season in Saudi Arabia and very recently qualified as a Mat Pilates Teacher. I will always be eternally grateful for the knowledge, love and passion Nicky has shown me and so many students she has helped over the years.
